In the current harsh economic climate, these costs have to be controlled, and achieving this without compromising quality of care is a daunting challenge. This article discusses the need to find effective and well-targeted chemotherapeutic regimens, which, when combined with appropriate implementation of novel strategies, will provide the optimum treatment for patients while maintaining economic viability.
