Tobacco smoking cessation in adults and pregnant women: Behavioral and pharmacotherapy interventions

Provide behavioral interventions to all adults who use tobacco regardless of pregnancy status. Prescribe Food and Drug Administration (FDA)–approved cessation pharmacotherapy to all nonpregnant adults who use tobacco (grade A recommendations). There is insufficient evidence to recommend pharmacologic interventions for tobacco cessation in pregnant adults (I statement). There is also insufficient evidence to recommend use of electronic nicotine delivery systems for tobacco cessation in any adults (I statement).
