Treatment for patients with advanced pancreatic cancer is challenging. Combination chemotherapy regimens such as FOLFIRINOX (fluorouracil, leucovorin, irinotecan, and oxaliplatin), NALIRIFOX (nanoliposomal irinotecan, fluorouracil, leucovorin, and oxaliplatin), gemcitabine plus capecitabine, and gemcitabine plus nab-paclitaxel have shown modest improvements in survival times compared with gemcitabine monotherapy. These approaches can, however, be associated with substantial toxicity.
