Vaccination for the prevention of human papillomavirus cancers

Human papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination helps to prevent 6 types of cancer. These include throat, cervical, vaginal, vulvar, anal, and penile cancer. The HPV vaccine can prevent more than 90% of these HPV‐related cancers when given at the recommended ages. The American Cancer Society (ACS), the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the American Academy of Pediatrics recommend HPV vaccination to protect children from HPV‐related cancers in adulthood.
