ASCO Living Guidelines: The Next Frontier

Ces deux études présentent la mise à jour des recommandations de l'"American Society of Clinical Oncology" concernant les traitements systémiques d'un cancer du poumon non à petites cellules de stade IV, avec et sans altérations génétiques "conductrices"

Clinical practice guidelines are statements informed by a systematic review of the evidence on a particular topic that serves to provide recommendations intended to improve patient care.1 While clinical practice guidelines can provide recommendations where there is little to no disagreement about the course of action that should be taken, they are most useful when clinical actions are unknown and there are gaps in knowledge or unexplained variations in practice.2,3 For these reasons, there is a need for clinical practice guidelines in oncology from trusted sources. Currently, ASCO maintains an active library of more than 160 guidelines across 13 clinical practice areas, developed by expert member volunteers, which are among the most read and cited articles in the Journal of Clinical Oncology (JCO). Limitations of the traditional guideline development model include lengthy initial development time, point-in-time publication, and an updating process that can take a year or more to complete. Advances in oncology have become so rapid that this traditional approach risks guidelines becoming outdated soon after publication. (...)
