Alcohol and cancer risk beliefs as correlates of alcohol consumption status
Menée aux Etats-Unis à partir des données d'une enquête réalisée en 2020 par le "National Cancer Institute" auprès de 2 906 adultes, cette étude analyse la relation entre la consommation d'alcool et la connaissance du risque de cancer associé
Alcohol consumption increases risk for several cancer types including liver, esophageal, colorectal, and breast. Alcohol consumption is a leading modifiable cancer risk factor, accounting for 5.6% of incident cancers in the U.S., and over 50% of U.S. adults report past 30-day drinking. Yet awareness of the link between alcohol and cancer remains low and varies by alcoholic beverage type. This study examined whether awareness of alcohol as a cancer risk factor was associated with alcohol consumption among a nationally representative sample of U.S. adults aged 21+.
