Trends in awareness of the causal link between HPV and cervical cancer in the US: 2013 to 2022
Cette étude analyse l'évolution, aux Etats-Unis entre 2013 et 2022, de la sensibilisation de la population au lien entre infection par le papillomavirus humain et risque de cancer du col de l'utérus
Cervical cancer remains one of the most common human papillomavirus (HPV)-associated cancers in the United States. 1 Annually, more than 11,500 new cases are diagnosed, and more than 4,000 women die of cervical cancer. 2 Over 90% of HPV-associated cancers (including cervical cancer) could be prevented with the HPV vaccination; yet HPV vaccine uptake in the US remains suboptimal. Awareness of the causal link between HPV and cervical cancer has been shown to improve screening and vaccination uptake. 3 While public health interventions to raise population awareness about cervical cancer have been implemented, 4 it is unclear if these efforts have translated into increased knowledge. This study examined trends in population awareness of the link between HPV and cervical cancer between 2013 and 2022.
