The survival of patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) correlates with its pathologic stage, ranging from 3% in stage 4 (metastatic) to 83.7% in stage IA. Preoperative imaging, used in staging, underestimates lymph node involvement and may lead to inaccuracy, especially in early-stage PDAC, with serious implications for treatment. This study evaluated the accuracy of clinical staging in early-stage PDAC (American Joint Committee on Cancer [AJCC] stages I and II).
